The exhibition games were fun to watch. Toppin looked like a much better shooter. Reeves seems like he'll have a lot to contribute. I think we'll have to wait until these guys face tough competition before we get a look at whatever cracks lie beneath the surface. I think I'm with you that Big O doesn't seem like the guy to pull the trigger from deep. Collins didn't much either, although with him being a fair amount younger and having been a 3-pt shooter in HS, I might wait to close that door until he takes a few during the non-conference schedule. Sean, any thoughts on how Toppin and Collins seemed to fit on the floor together?
I’m a bit nervous about Toppin and Collins together, although there’s not enough of a track record to know much for sure. I like it a lot better with Toppin at the 4 and Collins at the 5, as I think spacing and ball handling become a massive issue with a 3 big lineup. Another concern is that neither Toppin or Collins is anywhere near the rebounder Oscar is, and both tend to chase blocked shots and leave offensive rebound opportunities for the opponent. I’ll be watching closely to see how they perform together!
